This infographic portrays the five stages of resettlement as defined by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Resettlement involves the selection and transfer of refugees from a State in which they have sought protection to a third State which has agreed to admit them – as refugees – with permanent residence status ( UNHCR Resettlement Handbook, chapter 1, page 9). Additional procedural steps for information provision in resettlement have been identified. These can be found under the relevant "See more" icon.
