Introduction to the asylum procedure

In accordance with Directive 2013/32/EU (asylum procedures directive (APD) (recast)), an applicant for international protection has the right to be informed about the asylum procedure in a timely manner. The information provision enables applicants to enjoy their rights and comply with their obligations.

The right to information is one of the core guarantees provided in the APD (recast), aiming to ensure a fair and effective asylum procedure. Delivering information to the applicant is in the interest of both the applicant and the authorities.
